Amazing. Simply amazing.

Yesterday was a HUGE news day but all the mainstream news channels were
filled only with Tiger Woods.

Architects and engineers had a press conference to submit a petition to
Congress to convene a Grand Jury to investigate what REALLY happened on
September eleventh. Over 1,000 licensed architects and registered
professional engineers believe W T C was controlled demolition.

UK Prime Minister Brown is calling for a WORLDWIDE constitution to replace
countries' own .

5 US soldiers, all Muslim, arrested for plotting to poison the food at an
Army base in South Carolina.

But yet, Tiger is all we are supposed to care about.

Thank goodness for shortwave.

Yes the corporate media is excellent at suppressing news the ruling
elites don't want the populace to know. I recall a stunning moment of
candor from Ronald Reagan's CIA Chief William Casey (after his
retirement) in which he revealed that the CIA controls all major media
in the USA. It was true back then and it is certainly true today.

Did you happen to notice what significant event was immediately pushed
out of the news cycle by the "shocking" revelation that Sen. Harry
Reed referred to then candidate Obama as not having a "negro
dialect"?

Answer: the Federal Reserve reported record earnings of
$48,000,000,000 for the past year. It is noteworthy that the Reed
story was known for months prior but was sat on and released adjacent
to the Fed's earnings report.

P.S. Don't let the peanut gallery (dxAce) bother you with his lame
remarks. He learned a new word last year ('tard) and can't stop using
it - such a wit!

By the by, Mr. Lare still believes the "LET'S ROLL" fiction concocted
about Flight 93 on 911 so consider the source. He also thinks the
"dramatic" rescue hoax of Private Jessica Lynch actually occurred even
though she spilled the beans about it being an Army propaganda op
intended to ramp up public support for the war.

In short, he's the consummate American lemming.

I remember watching Ole Miss with Archie Manning at quarterback
playing on television back in the day. I can still see all those fans
waving their minature Stars and Bars flags. Say what one will about
the South but ya gotta love SEC football.

And yes Colonel Reb is a great mascot. I always think of Burl Ives
playing "Big Daddy" in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof when I see it - a great
movie. So I voted twice in favor of keeping it, why don't they show
the tally?

Sadly there is no way the school will bring the Colonel back, even if
they have to cheat to make sure it doesn't happen. Why you ask?
Because they need the black athletes to be able to compete in football
and basketball. Recruiting is a dirty busy and their rival schools
never miss the opportunity to bring up the negative about opposing
schools to impressionable youths. Fair or not, having a decal of a
plantation owning white guy on your helmet is not going to fly in
today's world.

Just as I said, southern fried Chicago politics.

Miss students vote to replace Colonel Reb
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...022304566.html
By SHELIA BYRD
The Associated Press
Tuesday, February 23, 2010; 8:40 PM
JACKSON, Miss. -- University of Mississippi students voted Tuesday for
the school to pursue a new mascot to replace Colonel Reb, the goateed
Southern gent banished from the sidelines nearly seven years ago as
the school continued its move away from symbols of the Old South.

The university's Associated Student Body released the results of the
online election after voting ended at 5 p.m. CST.

"This wasn't about Colonel Reb at all. This is a new body of students.
This vote is about deciding that we need a new personification of what
a Rebel is," said John Kaiser, the Associated Student Body's deputy
attorney general of elections.

Students were asked to vote "yes" or "no" on whether they support "a
student-led effort to develop and propose a new 'on-field' mascot to
represent the Ole Miss Rebels." The school has more than 18,000
students, but only 3,366 votes were cast. The referendum passed with
nearly 75 percent of the vote.

It's been an issue fraught with significance for the students, alumni
and fans of the university located in the Deep South, where many
consider football the ruling sport.

Ole Miss will remain the Rebels, but Colonel Reb won't be back on the
field.

The university has taken other steps in recent years to throw off what
many perceive as lingering reminders of a Confederate past. Last year,
the band stopped playing the fight song, "From Dixie With Love," to
discourage fans from chanting, "the South will rise again." In 1997,
the school ended the waving of Confederate flags at sporting events.

But not everyone is happy about the decision to move on from Colonel
Reb.

"I'm extremely disappointed. I do think Colonel Reb is getting a bad
rap," said Hannah Loy, a senior political science major and a member
of the Colonel Reb Foundation.

Loy said her generation should be allowed to define issues of race and
school spirit.

"I think the older generations need to stop pressing their feelings
about race and what happened in the past on those of us who weren't
even alive then," Loy said.

The Colonel Reb Foundation, a group formed in 2003 when the mascot was
dropped, had bought advertisements in the student newspaper in hopes
of winning a "no" vote on the proposal.

Koriann Porter, liberal arts major who started the petition initiative
that led to the vote, said she's hoping students will be able to
choose a new mascot by the end of next fall's football season.

Collins Tuohy, a recent graduate interviewed a few days before the
vote, said her parents recognized the need for the change when they
attended the school.

"My dad was an athlete and my mom was a cheerleader. They saw
firsthand that the flag and Colonel Reb were having an effect on
people," she said of Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, who are depicted in
the Oscar-nominated film, "The Blind Side."

Tuohy said when she was involved with the Student Alumni Council,
there was more of a move by older alums to push for a new mascot.

Associated Student Body President Artair Rogers said a student mascot
committee will be selected to develop and propose a new mascot. He
said he would present a plan to the Associated Student Body Senate and
Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones next week.

The UK banned them several years ago, and collected up and destroyed all the

Yes, they have been known to maul children, sometimes to death, but those
cases are actually pretty rare compared to the total population of the dogs

Something is fishy here. Only 3,366 of 18,000 eligible voted? That is
only a 18.7% turnout for a issue that has been hotly debated on
campus. Additionally, kids who spend half their lives on the
computer, could vote online without even leaving their dorm
room...hmm...very suspicious...I don't buy the lack of interest.

According to the Colonel Reb Foundation, in 2003 the University
Administration tried to change the mascot despite 94% of students
voting to keep Colonel Reb on the field. 94% to 18.7%? Liars liars

Upon reflection the numbers are worse. 94% wanting to keep the Colonel
dropped to approximately 4.67% wanting to keep him (using the
Administration's tally claiming 75% of the 3366 voters favored banning
Colonel Reb).

Even Chicago politicians are blushing over this one. Good grief.

alternative to mass execution of innocent animals and their loving

According to this news story

current owners are grandfathered but only for one dog. That would
really be a difficult position to be put into if you own more than one

There's a gross overreaction to stories where pits are concerned.
And the media plays it for all it's worth. I dated a reporter from
Channel 3 in Shreveport who did nothing but pit bull stories for a
year. The Kennel Club finally made her put a sock in it.

The problem is generally not the dog, but one at the other end of
the leash. There are owners who don't know how to socialize any dog,
much less a pit. Those dogs are fine at home, but out in the world
they're wildcards. Then there are the owners who keep a pit as a
deterrent to trespassers, much the same way they used to keep
dobermans.

The truth is a pit, or more specifically, the Staffordshire
Terrier, is a strong working dog, with an inbred aggressive streak,
that if properly socialized doesn't assert itself. Pits have been
family dogs for more than a century, and are particularly good at
protecting a family, especially the children.

An Akita or a Chow-chow is natively more dangerous than a pit.

The quintessentially gentle child companion dog was Petie, from
the Our Gang comedies. Petie and his sons, were registered
Staffordshire Terriers...Pit Bulls...and with the chaos of a movie
lot, the strangers of a film crew, and the horror of a room full of
5 year olds, there was never a problem with the dogs. Hell even a
Golden would get fed up with THAT crap. Which underscores that
problems lie not with the breed but with ignorant owners. And a
community ignorant of the dog, or how to handle an incident.

The guy next door to me raised pits. They were loud, to be sure.
Boisterous. But very sweet dogs in person. He would take them
around to the neighbors, introduce them to the dogs on the
neighbors' properties to indicate to the dogs that these are
friends, and that these people were friends even when not on the
dog's home soil. Clever move. Because the dogs got out,
occasionally. And there was never an unpleasant incident. They'd run
to the nearest friend and expect to be taken home. Which is
precisely what would happen.

These dogs would also be introduced to the other dogs in the
neighborhood for the same reasons. And, when the pits would get out,
there would be nothing other than a little noisy play.

There is a retired cop up on the next block. When he found out
that there were pits here, he barred his kids from playing on the
block. And he got up a petition to force the guy next door to get
rid of his dogs. He came to me, being next door and demanded that I
kick up a fuss living next door to such dangerous animals. I went
over to the fence reached in and petted both of them in front of him.

He was so ****ed he one of my flower boxes over.

I'm so comforted that he carried a badge and a gun.

He made so much noise that the neighbors finally had enough, and
after 2 and a half years, they ran the neighbor off with his dogs.
They moved out in October.

There's now noise about banning pits throughout the county with
armed enforcement. Coyotes take a dog a week in this area, and we
can't take them out, animal control won't take them out, and they're
multiplying faster than the foxes, but animal control wants send a
truck and a sheriff's deputy complete with shotgun to pick up a pit
in someone's home.

Nice.

The problem, as with Dobermans, which we no longer hear about, is
at the other end of the leash.

Unfair? Maybe.

But speaking in general (not any one specific dog), the pit bull has
been SPECIFICALLY BRED for its aggressiveness.- Hide quoted text -

No argument. Still not an excuse to have a knee jerk reaction against

I've seen other cities ban pit bulls but they usually grandfather
current owners. Might your celebration be premature?

The UK banned them several years ago, and collected up and destroyed all the
ones they could find. Personally, I think that's not right... overkill.
Yes, they have been known to maul children, sometimes to death, but those
cases are actually pretty rare compared to the total population of the dogs
(they were very popular in the UK.)

* *There's a gross overreaction to stories where pits are concerned.
And the media plays it for all it's worth. I dated a reporter from
Channel 3 in Shreveport who did nothing but pit bull stories for a
year. The Kennel Club finally made her put a sock in it.

* *The problem is generally not the dog, but one at the other end of
the leash. There are owners who don't know how to socialize any dog,
much less a pit. Those dogs are fine at home, but out in the world
they're wildcards. Then there are the owners who keep a pit as a
deterrent to trespassers, much the same way they used to keep
dobermans.

* *The truth is a pit, or more specifically, the Staffordshire
Terrier, is a strong working dog, with an inbred aggressive streak,
that if properly socialized doesn't assert itself. Pits have been
family dogs for more than a century, and are particularly good at
protecting a family, especially the children.

* *An Akita or a Chow-chow is natively more dangerous than a pit.

* *The quintessentially gentle child companion dog was Petie, from
the Our Gang comedies.

* *The guy next door to me raised pits. They were loud, to be sure.
Boisterous. *But very sweet dogs in person.

* *These dogs would also be introduced to the other dogs in the
neighborhood for the same reasons. And, when the pits would get out,
there would be nothing other than a little noisy play.

* *There is a retired cop up on the next block.

* *He was so ****ed he one of my flower boxes over.

* *I'm so comforted that he carried a badge and a gun.

* *He made so much noise that the neighbors finally had enough, and
after 2 and a half years, they ran the neighbor off with his dogs.
They moved out in October.

* *There's now noise about banning pits throughout the county with
armed enforcement. Coyotes take a dog a week in this area, and we
can't take them out, animal control won't take them out, and they're
multiplying faster than the foxes, but animal control wants send a
truck and a sheriff's deputy complete with shotgun to pick up a pit
in someone's home.

* *Nice.

* *The problem, as with Dobermans, which we no longer hear about, is
at the other end of the leash.- Hide quoted text -

I agree with all of this, and would add that another famous pit bull

I'd forgotten about Luke. You're right.

A dog will be whatever you want it to be. If that doesn't happen,
except in the very rarest of cases, it's because you failed to
communicate what you want the dog to be.

And for those who are about to bitch about the lack of radio
content in this thread...well, this is perfectly on topic for this
newsgroup. Because a dog's tail moves in short waves.

Thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the chicken.

One of the purpose/reason, dogs have tails is to help steer them when
they are running around corners. It is Wrong to cut off a Dogs tail!
Doesn't look right anyway. My doggy still has all of her tail.Sometimes,
when she takes a poop out in the front yard, a little piece of that poop
gets stuck on her butt hairs, that annoys her.I get a little twig off of
the yard and I knock that little piece of poop off of her butt.

How about getting your facts straight before posting? Your city
Council flat out stated there is NO chance of a pit bull ban.
Sober up and shut up. Better yet, shut up first and then sober up.

From the Jackson Clarion Ledger:
"Ward 1 Councilman Jeff Weill has been pushing the city for months to
take a harder line on dangerous dogs. The issue will be discussed
today at a meeting of the council's planning committee, which Weill
chairs.
Weill favors a ban on pit bulls, but he said he does not have enough
votes on the seven-person council to get the ban through." Rest of
the story continued at http://search.clarionledger.com/sp?a...ll+ban&x=0&y=0
