Bruce - are you getting the majority of your QSL's via email? I only did it that way twice before.....a couple a pirate broadcasts. Is this how the majority are doing it now? I always liked to send a hand written letter to the stations. |

I always liked to send a hand written letter to the stations. If at all possible, I want a real QSL - so... If I have a snailmail address, to ensure a snailmail reply, I send it there - UNLESS, like Radio Nederland, VoA, Radio Prague, Radio Romania International and a few other major broadcasters, they encourage e- mail reports for hardcopy QSLs. With Deutsche Welle, whose English website instructions leave just enough uncertainty to make me wonder, I sent a snailmail. Needless to say, the service was exceedingly fast for two-way overseas mail. I need to send them a "thank you" for great service. Radio Prague was like this too - ten days after an e- mail report, I had a QSL in-hand. All of my QSLs received to date are snailmail hardcopy, but if necessary, I would accept an e-mail QSL. I have a slew of them out right now, sent by either snailmail or e-mail - RNZI, R. Romania I., V. Nigeria, Channel Africa, VoA Botswana, RN Madagascar, Vatican, V. Russia, R. Japan, Twentieth Century Radio, Radio Victoria - we'll see what comes back. Bruce |

Bruce,
Thanks for the repsonse to my noise problem. I've got a great picture in my head of the next QSL card from the Vatican. QSLs - March 2010 - Is this a QSL?
This is a tentative; I'm not sure what it means exactly.
PERU, Radio Victoria, 6019.28 kHz, 18 March 2010, 0445-0530z. I sent a reception report in Spanish, and requested a QSL or verification, by post with $3 US specifically identified for return postage to: Radio Victoria, via Iglesia Pentecostal Dios es Amor Av. Arica 248, Breña Lima, Lima 05, Perú I received an e-mail from a Mr. Carlos Cabrera Torres at R. Victoria - here is his response, translated from Spanish: "Dear Bruce Jensen: It was gratifying for us to read [your] report tuning our [Emisora] Radio Victoria, which operates from the city of Lima, capital of Peru, South America. "We are gratified and very pleased to know that our sound waves from reaching your country and indeed also that programming is your pleasure. You can send your report to us at: or to this email. and thus extend our relationship. "We also take this [opportunity] to thank [you] for [your] report which is very useful for us. From now part of our circle of friends of Radio Victoria. Without further ado, Sincerely, CARLOS CABRERA TORRES DIRECTOR DE PRENSA DE RADIOPERIÓDICO NUEVO MUNDO RADIO VICTORIA - 780 Klcs. AM Of. 424-4321 // 997121896 RPM CLARO: 989077075" There is absolutely no other detail. So - is this a QSL or verification? I know that R. Victoria has QSLed many times in the past for others - but I am not sure about this message. Should I resend it to the e-mail? Any insights appreciated. Bruce Jensen |
QSLs - March 2010 - Is this a QSL?
On this message, being uncertain as to whether a physical QSL is
forthcoming via post, I simply sent another e-mail in Spanish with Sr. Cabrera's e-mail, requesting clarification about whether the signal I heard was in fact Radio Victoria. In my e-mail I included the vital details, so if he responds directly, the facts will be in the e-mail. Maybe the best I can do without being gauche? OTOH, maybe they'll send a pile of stuff - weirder things have happened! Bruce Jensen **************** On Mar 30, 8:43*pm, bpnjensen wrote: This is a tentative; I'm not sure what it means exactly.
