I need really 'good ears' and have used a loaded whip until now but do not want to drill holes to pass the coax on this particular car. I see some antennas on ebay that are 'through the glass' antennas: How are these for reception in fairly rugged terrain? How do they hold up to power washes, i.e. do they adhere well under adverse conditions? They always eventually fall off. You can get very good antennas with RG-174 which is really easy to tuck under window gaskets. That's what I use for my "no drilling" 2 meter installation. I've never messed with the seal. Does it return to form after the coax has been there a few years and then removed? Can it leak and can it be sealed with silicone or something? How do I know when I am lower than the glass to go through? Thanks for replying. |
