Jim I had flames come out of an old Hallicrafters Marine Radio once following such an event. Exciting, but not what I was hoping for. |

Or were there other odd phenomena between the noise and the flames? You know, the events were almost simultaneous. The radio was working OK one minute, then the next minute the speaker began to warble, and very soon the sparks flew and puff of smoke emerged. I am certain that the two were related, although at the time I had no idea how to reverse the problem. The latter event did not last long - maybe just a few seconds. It was a heartbreaking moment. Bruce That radio looked a lot like this one, but a slightly different shape, more like an Echophone (but it had the Halli label on it). http://tinyurl.com/y75g9m3 Bruce |

I Like those old radios that make that kind of noise.I never had one
that blew up the speaker or went up in flames though. Department of Injustice wants to read everybodys emails, without first getting a warrant. They (''They'') would find my emails extremely Boring! I read about that Thames River flood barrier/gates when it was first being built, I read about it in a Popular Science magazine many years ago.Last night I emailed that married Irish woman wayyyyyy over yonder across the big pond, in Bognor Regis,England, about that flood barrier.I told her why they had to build that flood barrier. It is because the Southern part of Limeyland is tilting downward while the Northern part is rising upward. That Thames water is getting deeper every year. She said as long as she doesn't tilt into the Ocean she doesn't care. cuhulin |

Jim Hah! Now THAT was funny! First time in a loooong time that someone replying to one of his dopey posts has made worthwhile my opening the reply. (Nonetheless, citizen cuhulin remains in the killfile.) Comrade Stalin says "Be Vigilant!" How can you killfile Cuhulin? Stay vigilant and he will grow on you. Picture that one? |

Thames River flood barrier.Actually, she said Sea, instead of Ocean. She
said there is more danger of her tipping into the Sea front at Bognor. She also said her dad and Cynthia (Cynthia is his girlfriend) are in a google map photo on the internet. They just happened to be coming out of his house when that photo was taken. Pew Research poll says 78 percent of Americans (MSNBC article on my WebTV Homepage thangy) do not trust government.I am one of those 78 percent Americans. Are you? cuhulin |
