This station, R. Conakry, and several other African stations were
significantly improved early this morning around their local sunrise (0430-0700z). The Southern African relays were booming in again, and Conakry made a fair showing of itself. If conditions stay the same or improve, some others may pop up too. I'd love to hear Afrique Numero Une on 9580 again - been awhile. Bruce Jensen California |

Bruce Jensen California Here in KY, ANU-Moyabi is pretty regular in the late afternoons around 2100 to 2200 UTC on 9580. Not hearing Gabon on any other frequency at any time of the day. Around 0300 UTC, Ethiopia on 7110 and Sudan on 7200 are also pretty regular. Tunisia is strong on 7275 after 0500 UTC. Equatorial Guinea is solid in the afternoons with English religious programs on 15190. CVI from Zambia shows up randomly at different times of the day, propagation permitting. Mike Louisville, KY Primary Receivers: R75, ICF-2010, E1 Good for you, Mike! Here on the West Coast, we are largely in the dark when it comes to Africa, although EQ Guinea and Tunisia show up a lot. Ethiopia? Sudan? Moyabi? Just a dream - for now. Did hear what I think was Ethiopia on 7165 one fine morning - and Uganada too on 7195 - earlier this spring/winter, but that was a one-shot. Have you heard Chad on 6165? |

Mike Huh - I've been hearing lots from Meyerton (as recently as last night), including Channel Africa, BBC and TWR if I am not mistaken. A few off days when it storms, but generally there. Must be the directionality...It is one of my most dependable catches! FWIW, I'd rather hear the stuff you're getting :-) For some reason, I cannot get the VoA Botswana relays very well the last month. prior to that, they were regulars. |

Conakry is a tough place to get a QSL from by mail - although it looks like e-mail might be easier. So, I am sending them a detailed reception report with cover letter en Francaise, an SWL card I made with full data on back and a lovely local photo on the front, a self-addressed envelope with $3 US for postage, and a double-sided, personalized, handcrafted (well, PC- crafted) full color, full-data QSL card in French; all they have to do is sign it, pop it in the envelope and use that $3 to put a stamp on the darn thing. I even offered to give them the forms for the QSL by e-mail if they like it (it's pretty nice if I do say so myself :-). Wish me luck - Guineenne QSLs don't grow on trees...
