Also included other items such as SWL card & ready-made QSL, which were not returned, and $3 U.S. which was return4d Two apparent valid addresses included for BEMRS, including POB 54912, CY (4-digit number unreadable), Limassol, Cyprus, and Zygi, Larnaca 7739, Cyprus (Jensen-CA). Unfortunate that they did not sign and return your prepared QSL. One always wonders about that. I'm waiting for a QSL from Radio Fly (5960), Papua New Guinea. I sent a prepared card, SAE, and $2. Have heard nothing, other than seeing some things indicating that they themselves were going to have a QSL printed, so perhaps ultimately they will send something. I'd be happy with the prepared card! dxAce Michigan USA I agree - I have had so many quickie cards/letters come back lately that just say something like this, a simple confirmation with no details - The prepped card I sent was pretty cool - neat and sharp, done on the PC, 4" x 6" full-color, the front had the station name, a small map of both the UK and Cyprus, and the back had full printed data and a place for a signature. It would have been no trouble at all to sign or even stamp/initial it and pop it in the same envelope with the mass- produced one-sided sheet they sent. I wish you the best of fortune with the Radio Fly QSL - have you heard whether they've veried for anyone else? No, at present I've seen nothing other than perhaps an email verie, and I really prefer to not go that route. dxAce BpnJ & DX Ace -wrt- the eMail 'Veries' Do any send a printing-yourself QSL Card as an 'attachment' in the eMails ? ~ RHF .- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Yes, I got that one from Radio New Zealand, sort of cute, had full data (sans an original written ink signature) and a cartoon of a kiwi on it - I found it satisfactory. I have gotten only two other "veries" from other stations by e-mail, and neither one was complete, but what can you do? I think at least one of those was from a person who really did not understand the concept of QSLing, since the e-mail was really a "Thank You for listening and please tune in again" kind of thing. There are some who are eager to post a nice full-data QSL for even a quickie e-mail - DW, CRI, RN, VoR, Radio Prague all seem highly cooperative in this regard. So far, I have gotten nada from VOA, Radio Australia, RHC or several others, which surprise me somewhat. Had V. Vietnam read my complete letter on the air one night a few months back, but have yet to receive a promised QSL. I am patient, though... I certainly understand Steve's aversion to the e-mail return method - the farther one gets from the traditional format, the more chance for having it questioned at some point. Not that, as a hobby, this is a do-or-die thing - but there is a certain amount of honor and satisfaction in having the tangible evidence of the accomplishment in hand, and that's worth something. It would be frustrating to know that you have bagged a station, received confirmation, and yet have it questioned because of a technicality. I don't worry about technicalities per se, but it is certainly more satisfying to get at least a prepared card back signed and stamped from the station at least with a nifty envelope with cool stamps on it. I guess over the past 40 + years that the hobby has changed. Stations come, stations go, but I guess the main thing is to remain patient, and keep trying. Steve |
