That would make sense, given the international nature of the conventions of the sea, and its navigation. But it would also make sense in that the vessel rendering aid would be in an excellent position to gather intelligence on an enemy, and his materiel. That is certainly a possibility! But as I recall, and I might certainly be wrong, but as I remember, I don't think that vessels, people, etc. were fired upon if they were seen to be rendering aid. Today perhaps, warfare is different I suppose, different 'rules', different times. |
