In World War Two, Willys and Ford built Jeeps, there was a Jeep assembly plant under the ground in England in World War Two. Certainly, but commonly referred to as "SAE" (as opposed to metric) in an automotive context. People call drywall "sheetrock" too. I call the old wrenches "English" 'cause that's what I was taught. I've always known SAE is a bolt specification, not a measurement system. |

Just like having a common Slotted [Flat] Screwdriver and a Phillips [Pointed] Screwdriver; but please don't try to use a Phillips on a Reed-and-Prince Screw Head. Plus there are Allen Wrenches [Hex-Key/Head] in both SAE and Metric Sizes too. often in spite of all the 'metric' and 'sae' tools and other fancy devices . . . it all comes down to . . . using a bigger hammer ~ RHF http://www.af.mil/shared/media/ggall...100324-011.jpg |
