Don't get out much, do you?

Many "made in America" (non-hybrid) cars are "Half-Metric& Half-SAE"
and have been for years.

Certainly, but commonly referred to as "SAE" (as opposed to metric) in
an automotive context.

People call drywall "sheetrock" too. I call the old wrenches "English"
'cause that's what I was taught. I've always known SAE is a bolt
specification, not a measurement system.

'Special Dave' =FYI=
Metric Wrench Sizes [mm] are shown, along with their
"American Standard" equivalence, in 1/1000s of an Inch.
"Standard-Size" Wrenches refers to SAE Sizes in Inches*
http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/scie...conversion.htm
* Fractions of Inches : 1/16", 3/8", 19/32", 7/8", 1-1/4"
-exception- a One Inch 'SAE' Wrench is a 1" Wrench

BURR,

That's why most home {diy} mechanics have both
a Set of Metrics and a Set of SAE Tools . . .

Just like having a common Slotted [Flat] Screwdriver
and a Phillips [Pointed] Screwdriver; but please don't
try to use a Phillips on a Reed-and-Prince Screw Head.

Plus there are Allen Wrenches [Hex-Key/Head] in both
SAE and Metric Sizes too.

often in spite of all the 'metric' and 'sae' tools and
other fancy devices . . . it all comes down to . . .
using a bigger hammer ~ RHF
