I doubt if "most" are, but yes, there were many dust bowl refugees that made their way to California, particularly to the Central Valley. In fact, that's the genesis of the California agricultural inspection stations one sees on the highways leading into that state. Their original purpose was to turn away such "undesirable" immigrants. For that, the State of California got dragged into the Supreme Court for interfering with the US Constitution and the right of Americans to freely move from state to state. -- David Barts Portland, OR |
