Dave, Let see . . .
SINPO 3-3-3-2-2 is a subjective-assessment*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SINPO

* -wrt- as best as they could 'guess'
given what they heard at the moment
and what the sinpo written criteria is . . .

The Backward Secret to the "SIO Code"
for Shortwave Radio Reception Reports
http://groups.google.com/group/short...4fa8b936d5b207

Rick Wiegmann - Koshko's SINPO Code Explanation
http://www.koshko.com/radio/sinpo.shtml

What is SINPO ? & SIO ? (Shortwave Radio)
http://stason.org/TULARC/radio/short...ave-radio.html

The SINPO Report
(Signal, Interference, Noise, Propagation, Overall)
http://www.giangrandi.ch/electronics...s/reports.html

For Shortwave Radio Listeners [SWLs]
The Simpler SIO Code is recommended :
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/radio/monit...shortwave-faq/

1st - The SIO Code Deletes the Extremes Ratings
of 1 and 5 and simply uses the 4 & 3 & 2 Ratings

2nd - The SIO Code Eliminated both the Noise and
Propagation Categories.

-hence- SINPO becomes SIO
[ S+I+N+P+O S+I+O ]

THE SIMPLER "S I O" CODE :

"S" = Signal
4 ~ Good to Great to Excellent !
3 ~ Fair to OK Average to Listenable
2 ~ Poor to Weak to Hard-to-Hear

"I" = Interference
4 ~ Slight to None
3 ~ Moderate to Some but Listenable
2 ~ Severe to A Lot to Bad to Hard-to-Hear

"O" = Overall
4 ~ Good to Great to Excellent !
3 ~ Fair to OK Average to Listenable
2 ~ Poor to Weak to Hard-to-Hear
