LOL! How much of last nights speech did Obama write? You might want to look
up Jon Favreau.

Look up? I saw a news piece yesterday about how they collaborate and how
Jon Favreau starts from essentially an outline and Obama tweeks that,
and so on. The editing is perfectionist, and very much Obama's work.

So far you nor the other poster that agreed with you has provided an
iota of anything credible to back up your stupid assumptions.
You have basically stated that the previous president didn;t even know
what he was going to be speaking about until his speech writer told
him thus implying that the the speechwriters are really the ones that
made policy.
And you have proof of such idiocy where?

So you admit Obama is merely the editor, not the writer.

Favreau's title is speech writer.

There is a reason several posters here refer to Dave as "Special
Dave".
Remember, it's not nice to pick on the mentally retarded.

Why don't you prove that they all knew the speeches word for word,
then.

? WHY : Simply as a 'nice' thing for President Obama
to do to Commemorate the 100th Birthday of former
president Ronald Reagan.

Reagan can burn in Hell for selling America to the bankers and the
Chinese. You can draw a straight line from everything wrong today to the
black Heart of Ronald Wison Reagan.

At least that's what you've been fed.
And of course you can't draw any of those lines yourself so you simply
believe other morons talking such trash.

Reagan fired air traffic controllers leading to an immediate crisis. 20
years
later they all retired at the same time creating another crisis. This should
repeat every 20 years, with lessenning intensity, until retirements become
better spread out.

Reagan released savings+loans from investment constraints whilst keeping
FSLIC
guarentees in place. This allowed S+Ls to gamble freely with the government
coverring their losses. They lost. S+Ls like FSLIC no longer exist, and RTC
was
a money losing business. This established the precedent for banks to gamble
on a
larger scale with the government coverring their losses.

Reagan began dismantling Depression era regulation of banks. Up till then
the
government guarenteed their losses, but it also put heavy restrictions on
their
gambling; after Reagan, Bush, Bush, and a few Republican congresses, the
government still guarenteed their losses, but with practically no gambling
restrictions. Bush gave us TARP, which was RTC on steroids.

Reagan abandonned all alternative energy projects, forcing the US to become
more
deeply involved in Middle East politics, leading to three expensive wars,
and
ongoing attrition such as Beirut, Cole, Khobar.

Reagan abandonned all alternative energy projects, leaving Americans with no
viable alternatives at each subsequent recurring gasoline price spike. Each
spike has put the US economy into spasms.

Reagan cut taxes and increased government borrowing to avoid balancing the
budget. This led to a disconnect between revenue and spending, such that a
whole
generation has come to age being taught that taxes are punishment and have
no
relation whatsoever to government spending.

Reagan cut taxes and increased government borrowing to avoid balancing the
budget. This led to continual deficits and increasing debt. Interest on the
debt
acts as indirect tax; the debt ties up money unavailable to businesses; the
size
of debt increases the perceived risk of default and higher interest demands.

Reagan began excessive, unnecessary military spending, coverring the
spending
with pseudopatriotism. It is now a parasite on the republic that is slowly
draining away vitality, while it is politically immune from control.

Reagan began SDI which to date has only served to waste revenues, **** off
Russia, give Americans a false sense of security, and kept defence
contractors
in champagne and caviar.

Reagan closed mental hospitals, to move patients to less expensive community
residential facilities. Reagan didn't fund community residential facilities.
This has resulted in seriously mentally ill abandonned to live on the
streets
until their inability to control their behaviour leads to felony
convictions.
Prisons have become mental hospitals, a function they perform more
expensively
and less competently than hospitals they replaced. The mentally ill are
traumatised beyond any hope of recovery.

Reagan began the attacks on public colleges and universities. These colleges
had
produced the professionals that transformed the economy from agarian to high
tech. Now higher education is given such short shrift that centres of
innovation
are moving out of the US to India and China. Young adults and teenagers are
simply not trained to maintain the economy they will inherit.

Reagan attacked productive, salaried workers in favour nonproductive
speculators. This has resulted in economy that punishes and demoralises
people
who are actually producing new wealth in favour of people who merely gamble
with
other people's productive capacity and produce nothing of value themselves.
Even
the ability to create new value is disappearing from the US.

Reagan made it easier to acquire a prosperous company and then break it up
and
sell it off to pay off junk bonds. Thus publicly traded business no longer
maintain a savings reserve, but rather keep their companies in perpetual
debt to
discourage raids. This means businesses require constant use of credit to
maintain daily business. If banks suddenly stop all lending, these business
found themselves suddenly unable to pay their debts, leading to an instant
depression.

Reagan with the Federal Reserve developped the policy of keeping most
Americans
as close to poverty as possible whilst still spending money to control
inflation. With every rising productivity this has led to little economic
growth
for most Americans (even declining since 2001) whilst all the profits get
funnelled into a tiny fraction of the population. This has led to an
imbalance
of wealth that often precedes a civil war.

Reagan refused any critical introspection and disparaged any attempts by
other.
This created an environment against introspection and twenty years later a
president so blind to his own faults that he could not admit to doing a
single
mistake. Critical introspection has become equated to treason; this leads to
a
public caught in its own illusions of perfection, caught off from reality.
Reality is not kind to people who ignore it.

I made no such assertions. I said I saw a feature on TV about how
Favreau and Obama go back and forth when writing big speeches.

Reagan's policies worked against Americans, set up "lying" as
acceptable, ran the most "criminal administration in history", ended
up creating armies of indigent, elderly, and mentally disturbed (bag
ladies and underclass homeless), ---all the while making the
wealthiest millionaires into billionaires.

Don't forget that in the very near future the present Billionaires are
tomorrow's Trillionaires !

A departed friend of mine impressed me at an impressionable time when he
explained every dollar originates as work done by a human laborer and
therefore has a certain human sanctity that should not be mocked (such
as by hoarding to keep score-if making money is your sport, catch and
release).
