receiver/band opinions
Roland Latour wrote:
So, if you were looking for a single-band receiver, which band would you choose for the next 5 years? I guess this is really a sunspot question. Since the late 1960's, I have had good luck with 6.0mHz, 7.0mHz (now depricated down to 7.2-7.3), and 11.7mhz. 15mHz and 17 mHz work better in the summer and 4.0mHz in the winter. Depending upon how noisy your location is, 4.0mHz will be lost in the noise. If I had to choose only one band among them all, I would go with 5.9 to 6.2 mHz. Two add 11.5-12.0, Three would add 17 mHz. Geoff. -- Geoffrey S. Mendelson N3OWJ/4X1GM Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to misquote it. |
