AIRC
The Alliance for International Radio Content
"Laws prohibit the federal government of the United States from releasing recordings and transcripts of content produced by Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, Radio Marti, and all other broadcasts intended for overseas audiences. As a result, it is difficult to analyze the content disseminated by these stations and hold them accountable. "After experiencing some difficulty in trying to obtain these programs, group of researchers created the Alliance for International Radio Content (AIRC). The AIRC is in the early stages of building an archive of international radio broadcast recordings (known as the AIRChive) that it plans to share with interested parties. "The AIRC seeks volunteers who are willing to record international radio broadcasts and submit them to the AIRChive. Those who submit on a regular basis will be granted full AIRC membership and all corresponding benefits. At this time the AIRC does not ask for dues, only contributions of recorded programs. "One AIRC volunteer described the organization’s ultimate goal. “We would like to record every international radio broadcast in the world regardless of country or language and make them available to anyone who may be interested.” It will take years to have enough volunteers to cover every broadcast in the world but we welcome the challenge. The AIRChive is very thin at the moment and needs volunteers to help build it. "Visitors are encouraged to peruse the AIRC website. Any parties interested in volunteering to record international radio programs or volunteer other services are encouraged to contact the webmaster." http://worldairchive.info/Site/Welcome.html |
