Another great DXpedition to our Atlantic Ocean Seefontein site. Great
logs and great cameradie.
Some nice tropical band catches as well. see:
http://www.dxing.info/dxpeditions/seefontein_2011_03.

I was bitterly disappointed with my Perseus SDR - feel like throwing
it in the trash can.

No, it is just less sensative and more noisy than the superb Icom. It
doesn't seem to be malfunctioning, just not up to the Icom IC-7600
standard.
After I had trouble on the second DXpedition I upgraded to software
ver 3.0beta1 and that improved matters but it is still not up to the
Icom or my pal Vince's Drake R8A.

For instance he heard a clear ID on a US station at 0500z on 1480 kHz
but all that was on Perseus was an unreadable het.

I see . A good RF generator is what is needed here . That may clear
things up a little .

An Altoids tin full of coaxial attenuators (aka "Pads") comes in real
handy when using cheap radios with big antennas.

Nice! Just curious, what's your farthest trans-Atlantic USA and Canada
catches? Have you ever heard any trans-Pacific DX from the mainland
USA or Canada? I assume that Hawaii is somewhat possible via trans-
Pacific (?).
