On this Day- CIA Trained Rebels Land on Cuba - Castro Easily Beats them back into the sea.

1961 * Armed Cuban exiles backed by the CIA invaded Cuba, landing in
the Bay of Pigs, with the aim of overthrowing the Cuban government
under Fidel Castro.

President Kennedy's decision not to provide naval and air support to
the rebels is seen by most analysts as the reason why the invasion
failed.
