I have looked at some of the photo's to see if he had a radio there and to see
what he might have used.

I imagine him to have been a toter.

He had DBS satellite; usually a World Service stream available on those
things (at least in the more civilized regions).

He apparently bought a cheap Kaito portable from the local Quikee-Mart.

Hopefully that was in the sack dropped off from the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70).
