Is the act of tuning a radio, or tuning anything, becoming weird?
Tuning has largely given way to demultiplexing the right bits from a digital data stream, a.k.a. "changing channels". We still call it tuning but the frequency of the signal isn't consistently changing. I guess we'll still call it "tuning" when the last analog radio signal leaves the airwaves. Heck, we'll still probably talk about tuning up and down the dial. |
