Antenna for mobile phone radio
My Nokia Lumia 1020 has a built in FM radio, like most Nokia phones has, using the stereo ear phone as an antenna. Pretty good, I get many FM stations in good quality, but I wonder if I can improve using some other antenna and make it better?
FM loop or whip antenna some how attached into the head phone jack? Any experts out there? Thx! |

It is very easy to make an FM antenna : 1) Take about 5 feet of wire (nearly any gage from 18 to 24 will do ) 2)Connect another wire at midpoint and solder the second wire to ground connection of the 3.5mm plug. It is the closest to the plug's cover 3) N.B. When connecting the plug be very careful NOT TO SHORT OUT audio Left and Right to the ground or each other !!! |

Head phone is basically an FM loop antenna? Headphone outside shield (ground)is used for FM antenna. Loop antennas are for low frequencies like LW or AM broadcast band. |
