Hello All
I have the above radio this radio worked great the hole time I've had it. So about 2 years ago i put it away because I wasn't using it I took batteries out before putting it away. Last week I took this radio out to use it I put new batteries in it turned it on to a FM station in area but no sound and no signal on meter. So I am wondering if anybody would know what is causing this.
Thanks Again
All help is appreciated

Make sure the polarity is observed correctly...

Have you pushed the reset button? It's located on the front of the radio, gently poke an opened paper clip into it.

Have you tried powering it on with AC?

Or a different set of batteries?

The set needs a 9V DC external power adapter . The tip is NEGATIVE(-)!

I wsa trying to remember if the receiver had any "backup" inside, like a
tiny nicad or just a supercap. If either were there, they might need a
bit of being on before they could be of value. I'm not sure why them not
charged up would cause the radio to not work, but I've seen boomboxes that
needed the backup batteries or they'd not work. But I remember losing
things when the regular batteries died on the Grundig, so I suspect
there's no backup.

The 500 and 700, which I realize are in another class and maybe era,
there's lots of connectors that seem to oxidize and need some cleaning, if
just unplugging and plugging. But I've not really looked inside the 400.

Maybe just leaving it powered and on for a bit might clear things up, I
doubt it can hurt.

Michael
