Brian: The military has relied on satellite recon since about 1989. The
USAF Reserve still has a bird at Biloxi that is chopped for NHC taskings. It's not a P-3. There are some 135's with a weather mission, but not in the usual sense. Thanks. I figure aircraft are needed to see what's under the clouds. I'm feel certain there aren't any ships sailing through that area, which could otherwise report surface conditions. G Bill, K5BY |
