There are over 2000 troops sent there to quell uprisings.
Has anybody heard anything on HF? The remoteness tends to suggest HF would be used. http://www.etaiwannews.com/Asia/2003...1058751379.htm |

Best in the winter months, unless you like the static crashes! I just checked the frequency at 1000, and they are there. Steve Holland, MI Drake R7, R8 and R8B |

Isn't the Solomons where a couple of P3 weather planes were recently sent, to
keep tabs on the weather around North Korea, just in case the info was needed in a hurry? Bill, K5BY |

It's a pretty good haul from the Solomons to N. Korea.
Hmm... Maybe the P3's went to Guam, then. Bill, K5BY |

Brian: The military has relied on satellite recon since about 1989. The
USAF Reserve still has a bird at Biloxi that is chopped for NHC taskings. It's not a P-3. There are some 135's with a weather mission, but not in the usual sense. Thanks. I figure aircraft are needed to see what's under the clouds. I'm feel certain there aren't any ships sailing through that area, which could otherwise report surface conditions. G Bill, K5BY |
