I have had that very annoying problem with my 2010 since the day I bought
it. I took it to the service center and they said they couldnt find anything
wrong with it.
Mine has always been intermittent.
Whenever I turn the radio and then back on, I usually get the error 3 message.
I feel very lucky if I can ever turn that radio on without the error 3 message.
I have to turn the radio on and off numerous times and finally it will work
properly.
I have new AA batteries in there and I have tried taking them out and
letting everying reset and still the problem exists.
I have not tried the paper clip idea though.

I seem to remember somebody in the past installing a small
capacitor across the battery terminals in order to cover short
losses of voltage when the batteries move slightly during normal
use. Has anyone tried this sort of thing?

aye, many an article has been written on this and even Kiwa offers a
kit. the bigger the cap,
the longer you have to swap out the little rascals.
