Default Jwin JX -M14 ( $9.95) Vs Icom R-75 ($549.95 )

Ok, The Icom Wins;

Straight Bambi Vs. Godzilla

But..

for $9.95 ( + S & H) http://www.kandbelectronics.com/

This is a Spiffy Little set. !

all aluminum & chrome finish, The design is eye catching,
with 3 LED's stacked up
time setting buttons in a pyramid,
and the time display in a rectangular window, etc.

The Jwin -M14 is a very nice compromise between Very cheap
electronics and a Digital readout.
The analogue tuner displays
4 digits and a decimal point, so 12.095 appears as 12.09.

In the afternoon, while walking around out in the street,
Just ( dodging cars & looking eccentric & )
tuning around, I found 7.415 ( Monticello Maine)
and 12.095 ( Ascension Island) both off the whip.
Later, in the A.M., standing by a window,
I picked up 9.580 ( Australia)
with interference from nearby frequencies..

Checked the Jwin against the Sangean 606A;
- No interference with the 606A, just Radio Australia on 9.580
- with some fading.
Checked again using the Icom R-75, USB - No fading...
no interference..

The Jwin JX -M14 also gets broadcast FM ( Mono) , and Regular Broadcast AM.
I think it's more selective than the $9.95 B & H, however
I haven't done a side by side test

Clock is only in 12 hour mode.

Sound on headphones isn't too bad for a real cheap set.
Mono on FM

In short, for a cheap set to keep in your desk at work
in case of the inevitable Blackout ( overload the grid, etc.)
It's something to listen to
while using your LED flashlight to race down darkened
stairs to the street..

or cigarettless breaks out in front of the Building,
picking up Gossip & a Bit of DX,

or just walking beside the highway,
getting a bit of Excersize while the Semi's roar by...

the Jwin JX -M14 is a very good choice
