It's SO obvious!

Was listening to my local news station this morning as I awoke. At the start of
a news story, the newsman stated: "With unemployment in our city nearing 10%..."
This is an outright, bold-faced lie! I don't even think we're at half that! And
it really should be 0% if the state government was doing its job and checking on
these deadbeats cuz I see HELP WANTED signs all over! Including factories,
department stores and restaurants.

But this is how the liberal media plants its ideas into your heads, and why many
of us listen to shortwave for an assortment of news and info. This time your
slogan, "It's the economy stupid" ain't gonna work! Cuz you're LYING about it! I
bet some of you Dems even quit your jobs when Bush took office just to try and
drag the unemployment figures up. Anybody that does or says things to purposely
hurt this nation's prosperity outta be hung for treason.

Would YOU take one of those minimum wage (or lower) jobs, if you had a
family to feed, and exhorbitant rent and utilities to pay? Better to keep
looking for a real job, because once you have put yourself into a minimum
wage full time job, you can neither pay your bills nor look for a better

Let's see. There are 168 hours in a week. You would sleep about 56,
leaving 102. You work 40 hours at the minimum wage job plus 16 hours
commuting, getting showered and dressed. There are still 46 hours in the
week. But there's no time to look for a better job? You can't have an
employment agency looking for you?

Take the minimum wage job and immediately work to do better. Get a life.
But don't be a slacker.

Let me tell you something about Life, Son.
There's a thing called "a Job"

You go there, do work, make the owner happy and get paid.
If you have " A Job "
You are The cheapest source of labor" "The Owner" Can Find

Now If " The Owner" finds a " New Source" for Cheap Labor

- Overseas, In India, Or The Philippines, Of China
A source that earns only 20% or one-fifth of what your being paid.
and he can talk to them & get their work via an uplink
He'll "Outsource " Your Job ..

- That means you
- Don't have to go to work but
have no paycheck
no money
No money to pay bills
You're Credit cards are no good.
No money from the ATM.

One day a man called " A Sheriff" knocks at your door
And hands you a piece of paper
Its called "An Eviction Notice"

Soon after He comes back
and he
take everything
in your house
and put it out in the street.

Then
Your what's called Homeless.

- All Strictly Legal!

One thing's for sure
They'll never outsource
Congress
Or the House
Or The President..

A goodly number of people can't pass the postal exam??? First of all, I don't

and she didn't even know Hawaii is our 50th state!!!! (Remember those wonderful

HIGHLY simple postal civil service exam???? NO!!!!

If you want a good job, get an education!! Times have changed. In case you

the high-tech, high wages, you need high-er EDUCATION!! My teenager is going

minimum wage, but since he's proven to be a well rounded, dependable and hard
working indiividual....he's now making almost TWICE the minimum wage. This has

Yes...I've been unemployed before, SEVERAL times. And actually HOMELESS, living

YOU!! I live in a state that is SUPPOSE to have one of these so-called high
unemployment rates. But again, I see HELP WANTED signs from the USPS (LOCAL job

And in case you haven't noticed, these unemployment rates are not all that high.
5% is typical for a growing economy. (The LIAR in VT is at 4.1%) Most of these
rates were around during the EIGHT YEARS of Clinton. WHERE WAS ALL THE BITCHING

My, what a rude little cretin you are.

For starters, I do not buy into everything the media says, in fact, I tend
not to buy much of it at all, this stemming from the experience of the
Reagan shooting, where our press (predominantly ABC) had him everything from
uninjured to dead.. so much for accuracy of the press.

Next, though it's true I do not like Bush, for many reasons, I do not blame
the economy on him. I mean, get real, the president really doesn't have
squat to do with the economy. He does not set stock prices, he does not set
profit levels or influence consumer spending. The economy is out of his
control (this goes for both Republican AND Democratic presidents).

A goodly number of people can't pass the postal exam??? First of all, I

don't
believe it because I know a young woman at our post office who passed it

at 95%

that my
problem or George W.'s problem that some schmuck is too moronic to pass

the
HIGHLY simple postal civil service exam???? NO!!!!

If anybody could pass a Civil Service exam, then they most likely would not
have them. And with our education system in the condition it's in, there
are a LOT of folks who can't read the exam questions, let alone answer them.
I'm afraid the problems with the education system can be blamed upon two
generations of politicians (mostly Democrats, but enough Republicans to let
it all slide) who let social workers and pshrinks tell us how to raise our
kids. I know it's not politically correct, but dammit, when we could still
spank our kids, they didn't take guns to school to blow away their
classmates, or knife someone to take their sneakers.

If you want a good job, get an education!! Times have changed. In case

you

hard

This has
allowed him to pay for his college education!!!

Payed for college on $12 an hour?? Who was he living with? Who was paying
his bills? Our household pulls in $70,000 net per year, and, although some
things are much more expensive here (electricity alone runs upwards of $700
a month during the summer), most is comparable to stateside costs, and we do
buy a lot of toys, and help people out as much as we can, but we don't get
to save a lot. Certainly could not afford college, even a community college
is out of our budget. And are you aware that over 20% (I don't recall the
exact figure) of working people in the US are trying to live off of less
than $25,000 a year? Perhaps in some economically depressed states like
Mississippi or Arkansas or Oklahoma, where rents are much lower, but in most
cities rent alone would eat up about half (or more) of that..

Yes...I've been unemployed before, SEVERAL times. And actually HOMELESS,

Again, anyone blaming any president, or even CONgress, for that matter, for
the state of the economy, is out of line, no matter the party. There are
just too many market forces applied for such a small group of people, and
certainly any one person, to make much of a dent. The biggest dynamic
involves US and BUSINESS. I would have to guess that if any entity or group
of entities has more overall influence upon the economy, it would be the
trade unions. It is largely the trade unions that have caused the
outsourcing of jobs in the US, and the pricing out of the market of US goods
due to the artificially high wages of many jobs (I can't believe that
someone gets paid $35 an hour to put windshield wipers on on an assembly
line).

But I suppose some of you are too good and want to start right at the top

as
CEO's LOLOLOLOL!!!! Brenda Ann, CEO. Brian Denley, CEO. Has a funny

ring to
it, doesn't it. LOLOLOLOL!!!

FYI, I wouldn't WANT to be a CEO.. I wouldn't want to have a reputation of
being a crook, as is the case of so many such, at least in the public's
perception lately.... I would rather keep my reputation for being an honest
person who still cares about the customer..

White-collar jobs also going overseas

By RALPH NADER

In the past four decades, many millions of manufacturing jobs in this country

have been shipped overseas. This transfer was supposed to be part of the
“win-win”

process of free trade. But 27 straight years of growing trade deficits with
the

rest of the world makes one wonder: Who’s winning?

Conventional economists and their Republican and Democratic converts try to
cushion

this job-export machine by saying that the large majority of jobs in this
country are

white collar, not blue collar. The implication is that white-collar jobs are
not as easy to export.

Well, welcome to the computerization age. U.S. companies are rushing headlong
to export computer

programming work to countries such as India and Malaysia and now China,

where English-language proficiency and cheap labor cut costs by more than
two-thirds.

Payroll processing, airline passenger billings, insurance computer
applications and new software

designs are only some of the labor that is done in foreign countries for U.S.
companies.

Computerworld magazine calls “Offshore’s Rise” relentless. By next year,
it reports 40 percent

of U.S. companies will have completed some kind of pilot program or will be
using nearshore or

offshore services.

It is difficult to find any estimates regarding the total number of American
jobs

displaced in this sector. But Gartner Inc. uses the jargon “human resources
outsourcing

services” and puts a $46 billion price tag on them for this year.

Moreover, U.S. firms are opening subsidiaries in countries such as India to
compete with

Indian firms for outsourcing business.

Accenture CEO Joe W. Forehand is reported by Computerworld as comparing the
trend to the

previous exodus from the United States of many manufacturing operations.

“The way we look at it, the industrialization of IT (information technology)

is a reality, and we have to embrace that,” he said.

IT has been in a bit of a slump, not to mention the rest of the computer
industry.

So, when outsourcing is combined with massive layoffs in this country and the
continuing

inflow of lower-wage computer technology workers under H-1B and L-1 work visas,
it is not surprising to see the gloom besetting American technology workers.

Unlike H-1B visas, which are supposed to receive prevailing wages (but often do
not),

the L-1 does not oblige employers to pay workers prevailing wages, and there
is no cap

on the number of these visas that can be awarded foreign workers.

With more than 500,000 workers in this country on “temporary” H-1B visas,

supposedly meeting a domestic dearth of skills, the L-1 visa workers are
supposed to

be just transfers between subsidiaries and parent companies. In fact, reports
The New York Times,

“they are now routinely used by companies based in India and elsewhere to
bring their

workers into the United States and then contract them out to American companies
– in many

instances to be replacement for American workers.”

The number of workers replaced is unknown, according to the Times.

All this upsets the Organization of the Rights of American Workers,

a nonprofit group based in Meriden, Conn. Its president, John Bauman, believes
that

a recovery in this industry will not bring back the American jobs due to both
outsourcing

and these special visa programs so strongly desired by Silicon Valley
companies.

When these concerns are raised to international economists, one of their
replies is,

“Don’t you know what an extraordinary job machine is the U.S. economy?”

Well, it has lost 2.6 million jobs since February 2001.

Someday the Pollyanna belief that the U.S. economy always replaces the jobs it
loses overseas

with new jobs here, as we keep racing ahead of other countries with modern
technology and

new or redundant services, may run into a contrary riptide that no set of
spurious statistics can obscure.

When the brain trusts running these companies figure out that sending
all these jobs overseas:

1. Makes their own sales go down, since who will be able to afford their
stuff if people here can't buy it?
2. ****es people off when they call Dell(for example) and get someone in
India, who they can't understand. I know two people who are "done with
Dell" since they started getting people in India answering CS and Tech
Support calls.
3. Make people even more resentful of the insanely high pay some of
these bigshots get after cutting lots of jobs.

Maybe, they will have the sense to stop it. But I doubt it, most people
in upper management have a totally warped view of how things really
work, and how they should work..

Ditto the agreement.

Here in Vermont, the unemployment rate is effectively nearing 15 %.
With a state population of about 750,000 each job posted to the newspaper
gets over 500 resumes.

Additionaly, Federal figures don't count those not collecting a check.
(inelligible, unable to find work after benefits expiring, etc)

I remember, and that were 'presented' as FACTS. Involved counting
minority women twice as women and then minorities. But, for some
reason minority males were not counted twice. Oh So Politically
Correct !

When the Federal Gov. calculates unemployment figures, they
do so by conducting a survey of 300 employers (businesses).
If the business has changed its phone number and cannot be
contacted, the Federal Government reports something to the
effect that said business has not cut any jobs.

I think the jobless problem is perhaps the biggest one we face
as a nation....and, working as a Title Examiner/Manager/Insurance
Agent, I can attest that waaaaay too many folks are getting fifth,
sixth, and seventh refi's....just to pay the bills. I can also state with
honesty that too many folks who have no business buying a home
are doing precisely that.

Hoping for a *real* recovery....

(P.S., I was going to chide you about not including minorities (whose
unemployment rate is way higher)....until I read the last paragraph)

Again, I'm going to respond via my own message...cuz that little twit in Vermont
is a LIAR!!!!

I just visited your states website. According to your (Vermont's) July
unemployment records, which are the latest available, (Ausgust isn't out yet.)
Vermont is sitting at 4.1%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JJ,

The Good Old 4.1% "UE Rate" is for College Educated White Males ONLY !

So this Translates to:

= 8.2% for White Females and Asian-Americans.

= 12.3% for those who only made it through High School.

= 16.4% for those who did NOT made it through High School.

= 20.5% for Hispanic-Americans.

= 24.9% for African-Americans.
