If I take wire and run it along the frame of my home, in a continual narrow
"z" formation (30' long), would this make a good antenna? I had been
thinking of doing this as I can not place a decent outside aerial. Is more
wire better or is there a "proper" length? Would the connecting wire be in
the center of the formation or is anywhere alright?

It'll be ok. More length would be better if you have the space. Make
the coneection wherever is convenient. Remember that your 'feedline'
will be acting as part of the antenna also.
