SCARY MYSTERY -- who is this on 15.385 @ 1800z Wednesday?
Today I scanned across 19m and heard some really scary evanglist types
on 15.385 MHz -- it was just after 1800 GMT, Wednesday, September 10, 2003. Here's an excerpt: "If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire." "And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell." Another verse I don't even want to directly quote -- the gist of it was that it would be better for a child to have a millstone put around his neck and drowned than to witness someone else sinning. I sure hope we don't hear about these people on CNN one day, but I imagine nevertheless that some of the religious-based murders we sometimes hear are grounded in beliefs like this. Anybody know what group originates this incredible doggerel? Randy (WA4FJF) |

Here's a quote from Matthew: Matthew 18 1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! Such is the miracle of cut and paste. The same language is in a couple of other Books as well. Frank Dresser |

Randy (WA4FJF) Hi On this web site you can enter a frequency and see who broadcasts on it: http://hfradio.org/swbc/ I fed in your frequency and found nobody listed as broadcasting between 18 and 19 gmt, but I'm guessing your broadcast was from these guys: http://www.awr.org/ There's also a listing for Islamic Republic of Iran broadcasting on that frequency, but it's earlier in the day. |

FWIW, I think they are quoting scripture accurately, except for the part
about the kid that I never heard. There are all kinds and degrees of views, and a lot needs to be taken with a grain of salt. |
This is all Biblically accurate.
Matthew 5 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. 30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. courtesy of http://www.gospelcom.net/ Naturally the point here is its better to go to heaven missing body parts than to go to hell in whole. And I believe the earlier posted section was saying its not such a hot idea for a seasoned Christian to say something to a new Christiain which may result in that person loosing faith and fall away. Many times its better just to hold the tongue than criticise or confuse a new Christian. And from what Mathew is saying to the offender: It is better to place a millstone around that persons neck and toss them into the sea. Than for them to cause a new Christian to stumble. The nature of Christianity is such that the Holy Spirit gradually convicts each person of the sins in their life. Others don't usually need to do it for them. Exceptions (IMHO) are your pastor preaching to the whole church and not singling anyone out. For one thing, I never catch them mentioning the Pope, Mary, or the Catholic church and its rules/doctrines. Those are usually the clear giveaways. In my experience, a religious broadcaster who can go 20 minutes without mentioning any of those *was* invariably a Protestant. I wouldn't have guessed Catholic either. I haven't listened to them lately, but when I first ran across them years ago they used the name Yahweh all the time, so I was imagining them as some sort of Old Testament fundamentalists. |

They may claim to be Catholics, but they're more radical. Seems way too radical for Catholics, indeed. Their pastors are usually not the "fire and brimstone" types... just the opposite, as I recall from my Irish Catholic upbringing... maybe these are some radical offshoot? Jackie I'm reminded of the end of the world cult in Uganda that committed mass suicide three and a half years ago. They claimed to be Catholics too. |
Well stated Randy. You are correct in your observations.

FWIW, I think they are quoting scripture accurately, except for the part about the kid that I never heard. There are all kinds and degrees of views, and a lot needs to be taken with a grain of salt. HAHAHAHAHA!! I get it! Lot...salt... Good one! |

Randy,
Forgive me if someone else has already given you the reference to those scriptures you "quoted" but I haven't taken time to read all the replies to this. Since you don't use any thee's and thou's I'm assuming it is NOT from the King James Version and will just give you the New American Standard Bible version. Part of it comes from three of the first four books of the New Testament. I'll just site the first book, Matthew, for now. It also comes from one of the most famous sermons Jesus Christ ever preached -- probably THE most famous, The Sermon on the Mount which is covered in Matthew chapters 5, 6 and 7. Matt. 5:29 "And if your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out, and throw it from you; for it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. Matt. 5:30 "And if your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off, and throw it from you; for it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to go into hell. That last paragraph seems just a bit twisted or reversed. :-) Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. You may want to read some preceding and following that verse to get the gist of the message. Hope that helps. I notice someone already told you who was probably broadcasting.
Thank you, Al, I had no idea that was the Sermon on the Mount. (I
have certainly heard the title of that sermon and could have filled in the blank if tested -- "Sermon on the _______" -- although I obviously have demonstrated my overall ignorance.) Thank you again, and I hope I didn't offend too many people. Randy (WA4FJF) Al Patrick wrote in message ...
