When I lived in San Francisco one day I noticed a homeless man selling, among various knickknacks, a 1960s Zenith TO. I asked him about it and he said he bought it in America and took it to Nam, where it literally saw him through hell and high water. He said he hated to sell it but needed to eat. He was asking $20, and I didn't have the cash on me. When I went back the next day with a $20 bill, he was nowhere to be found. I always wondered if that TO ended up with somebody who would have cared for it as much as I would. |
