Anybody else getting flooded with e-mails from victims
of the the Swen-A virus? I've gotten around 50 of them
since last night and there is still a constant stream.
There's mention of it on the McAfee site and a blurb at
www.theregister.co.uk

Yes, but I think antivirus software will become less and less useful as more
and more computers get high speed connections. This "virus" is a 106 kb
..exe file. 106 kb! And I got 80 of them before AT&T caught up and stopped
distributing it. I would have gotten more, but I blocked e-mail on this
account for a while. And I don't think users can be expected to be able to
update faster than ISPs.

So far, I've got about 300 e-mails, but the attachment isn't available,
anymore. They seem to be coming from only a few ISPs. I don't think many
people are getting fooled by this thing. But there are a few computers out
there pumping out plenty of 106 kb attachments to make up the difference.

Anyway, a little paranoia is a good thing in this case. Thankfully, there's
no shortage of that here on rec.radio.shortwave.

- Still, if you set your e-mail to

"Download attachments separatly"

it'll save you some grief..
