Anyone know of a mod to make the Kenwood 830 transceiver a general coverage receiver? I wouldn't bother. You could probably reprogram the diode matrix to go other bands, but you would still be limited to the number of bands you could use. Also, the rf sections would be peaked for a certain freq range. The circuits are fairly hi-q. The 830 is too good a rig to hack into IMHO. I'd buy a gen coverage receiver instead. Or get a 2nd ham rig thats gen cov. MK -- http://web.wt.net/~nm5k |
