A coaxial loop antenna all but eliminated TVI and power
line noise at my QTH. It only cost 25 bucks for coax and
a connector (and some antenna seal), and noise that used
to be S8 is now S1. Stations literally "pop out" of the quiet
now.

Well, the radio I'm currently using with this antenna is the
Yaesu FRG-7, which has a built - in preselector. Mr. Greer
really came up with quite a design, didn't he? It's cheap, too.
I think the antenna works well enough without a tuner, but
I know there are plenty of easy ways to put a tuner together.
Of course, there are some really good / cheap commercial
designs out there. The MFJ tuners without wattmeter would
do really well in this application. Unless you're planning to
use it for transmitting, the wattmeter just adds $$$ to the cost.
