That involves a ladder usually, and some electrical tape for sealing the connections. Obvious safety concerns apply. The rest is easy. See if you can find an antenna installer or repair shop to perform an antenna survey at your location. Higher is usually better but not always. The survey will tell you the strength stations in your area have at your location. Optimal antenna height will be determined along with the need for an amplifier.
