I have tried it out a bit more and have found a few japan or china
stations , just not very clear right now.

I havent got any extra antenna's or anything,just the one attached to
the radio :-)

The reception will seldom be of the quality that you would expect of a
nearby Broadcast AM or FM station. Since the signal propagation relies on
the ionosphere, the current condition and altitude of the ionosphere will
seriously affect your ability to receive signals.

There have been days that reception was good and a sudden change in the
ionosphere due to solar influences resulted in reception being entirely
lost over a large range of frequencies.

Be patient, I am having reception problems as well on frequencies that I
have listened to for years. There will be days that you will not be able
to listen to shows that ordinarily come in very clear. This is the nature
of Shortwave reception.

Reception of certain shortwave stations can *often* be the quality of a
local AM station, except for the reduced bandwidth of the audio. Radio
Australia on 9580 in the morning (USA), usually sounds like a local AM
station just a few miles from me.

Good idea. That's what I did, when I gave a couple of teenagers jWINs.
