Default New SW schedule from RTE in Ireland?

Was listening to RTE 1 today (2003 Dec 23) on 13640 @ 18:30 UTC and
thought I heard an announcement that RTE would start broadcasting for
2 hours, instead of 30 minutes, each day to Africa and North America
beginning after January 1. Did anyone else hear this? Can you confirm?
