Richard Welcome !!

7600GR is a great set;
an external antenna will help lots with fainter stations;

Ignore the nuts here, they're just static...

One of us, one of us!

You might want to get a copy of the current "Passport
to World Band Radio", which is sort of the TV guide
to shortwave. It will tell you when things are on;
and also, when you run across a station that is SO
weird it makes you wonder if you've tuned into Mars,
it will usually be able to let you know what you've
got...

Wish me luck

Luck!

Thanks, Dan

I'm filing that antenna page link, for future ref.
Seeing what I can do with the extendable whip first. (IYSWIM)
Lots of bells and trinkets on this Sony. Taking me a while to get my head
around it

And thanks, FW

Is the "Passport to World Band Radio" a US publication?

This is quite a NG - an Alladin's cave of useful info.
Having to divide my time between the radio and my iMac...
