"Maximus" wrote in message hlink.net... Hi. As a ham radio man, I am hoping you can help me out. I have a DX394 receiver and usually use ac to power it. I can run from a car battery, with the adaptor. It requires 12 volts at 500 Ma. What I am wondering is if I can build an emergency power supply so I can listen using batteries when the trees take out the power lines s. The DX-394 draws from 170 to 200 mA, not 500 mA, so any 12V battery capable of a few hundred mA-hours will be able to run it. The larger the ampere-hour capacity, the longer it will run without recharging. For lots of info on the DX-394, consider joining the group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RADIOSHACKDX394/ (at the moment, Yahoo seems to have a serious problem and nothing can be found on the group website but it should be restored soon.)
