Default Winter only/Summer Only?

I've been using Passport to World band Radio for several years now. The SW
listings refer to programming skeds as "Winter Only at thei time" or "Summer
Only at this time".

My question is, when exactly does winter programming end and summer begin? Is
it at the Spring Soltice or something? Does it depend on the individual
broadcasters?

Thanks for any help in clearing this up, I've always wondered about it.

As I recall, without looking it up, there are now two seasons, one starts at the
end of October, the other starts at the end of March.

Daylight Savings Time in the US, and the equivalent
"Summer Time" for the UK etc. The UK starts "Summer Time"
a week before we do I think.

The shortwave winterseason (season B) always ends on the last Sunday in
March and the summer period (season A) always ends at the last Sunday of
October. This is regulated in the ITU article S12.

However, in some countries changes to daylight saving time etc are different
from the above mentioned. For instance in the US where DST begins on the
first Sunday of April. So some broadcasters use different schedules for this
one week.
