nothing happens when coupled to antenna and receiver when I turn the
capacitor.


might want to switch to 'radio' instead of 'antenna' on the jacks, worked for
me on two of the pieces I had it set up too.

There was a receiver some years back that had that amplified antenna
sold along with it. Don't remember too well.

But in any case, the Radio Shack version was a pretty good product for
its price. I still have one and use it once in a while. It's better
using it with a small portable rather than a large receiver because of
the noise it generates.
