The guy was there, but after one of the hams came on after consulting with
the
Coast Guard and finding out from them that his lat/lon did not match his
stated
position (the lat/lon that he gave would have put him north of San Antonio I
believe) asked the sailing vessel 'Raven' what his port of departure was and
port
of destination. No response. The guy must have heard that his posit did not
match.

One ham came up a few minutes later and said it was suspicious that he gave a
'marine callsign' that did not match any known type of 'marine callsign'.

Another thing is that during of his last transmissions, the vessel Raven
stated
he was at 9 volts, one of the hams later on said the transceiver probably was
not
capable of running at nine volts. So the vessel operator might have been
faking
that. His transmission sounded normal here.

So, kinda suspicious at any rate. BUT the Coast Guard has a Falcon jet out
looking, and there is a CG cutter in the vicinity.
