SAT800 Yahoo Group & Censorship

Anyone who thinks the discord on RRS is a reason to migrate to Yahoo groups
should take notice of what's happening in SAT800 Yahoo group. W00dy65, aka, JJ
the radiobuff, is stopping the posts of members who are asking him to stop his
off-topic political rants.

A small-minded simian engaging in censorship. And then having the audacity to
call others censors when they ask him to stick to SW radio. A true loser...

There is no room for censorship of opinions from either the right or the
left. Our Constitution (for now) guarantees the right of freedom of speech
and freedom of expression to both conservatives and liberals (I realize that
not every netizen is a US citizen, but much of the world agrees on this
point, including the UN).

I would agree to a point. I think we have the right to ask the moderator of a
moderated group not to censor people for asking him to refrain from censoring
people for simply asking him to stick to discussing the SAT800, or at least SW
radio. To censor those expressing the choice to stick to SW seems particularly
reprehensible.

dropped off two of his list.
I think his wife took him out of California because he was to nuts to

I hope she gets him help before he hurts someone or himself. He is

political perspectives at me when I came there to hear discussion on the

That's the point, Frank. The Yahoo groups should stick to their topics so that
people can go there if they can't, or don't want, to deal with the discord that
characterizes RRS.

All I did was suggest that the group stay on topic instead of JJ shoving his
political perspectives. I made no counter political stance. Others made far
more direct and vicious attacks, but I got kicked because JJ seems to hold a
grudge against things I've said to other folks on RRS. That's wrong.

But don't worry, I don't want back on that group. JJ and RHF together is a
little too much to deal with.

Yeah, no big loss. He's kicked me off, before, when you and I were discussing

others. He asked that the group try to stay on-topic.

JJ's reply, "If you don't like it...guess what...you can leave the group.
", was in rather poor taste for being the moderator.

Following Mike's post, about 4 of the 45 posts were on-topic.

That group seems to need a new charter and name.

For me, the Sat 800 group has become a waste of time to find that rare
on-topic post.

I dumped the SAT 800 group this week. It was getting out of hand IMO.

Hey, Sis, I am a co-moderator on Sat800 and have refrained from using
any of my powers on that group for fear of getting kicked off. I love
the people of Sat800 and it isn't fun when things take a nose-dive on
political issues and the such. I have considered leaving because I
have run up my flag as not being a "conservative" and once marked
(either way) you are marked. Apparently if one is not of a particular
stripe, it is now cause to be labeled an enemy rather than just to
leave it as "disagreeing". But I love the people of the group and it
is a large group so I'm going to hang around until I "slip up" and get
booted for wanting the subject matter to remain on track.

To all those who left the group for whatever reason, I apologize.
However, I am not the owner and in the end really have no power.

Best DX to all of you,

Adam,

Rest assured that no one is blaming you. I only want to thank you for getting
me back in the Group after JJ tossed me for disparaging remarks against the
Tiny-Tenna. I won't be trying to re-enter the group.

Stay cool, man!

You have a choice...don't go there. It's just like here. The big
difference it that usenet is for the most part unmoderated. You folks
seek to censor what I say. If you owned the group you could just kick
me off. But, you don't. So your choices are you can whine like babies
of kill file me. It's up to you.

Calling my employer will do you and everyone elso absolutely no good.
As a matter of fact, it will probably get complants filed by them to
your internet providers. You have to remember that email is a private
issue and usenet is not. My employer has absolutely no control over
what I do with my internet connection at my own home.

It's like gettting in an argument with yor next door neighbor over
your dog. The neighbor calls your boss. Do you think that your boss
will care?

Of course not!

NEVER would I accuse you of being "the enemy"! But I was quiet during
the "home-schooling" matter and its fallout. And I noticed a trend
about the rantings of JJ and the cycles indicated in my first email to
Michael.
So, it seemed that since there was little to no SAT800 information
emanating from that group--it was time to move on.

And if JJ (Woody) wants a personal rant group, that's fine. Just don't
label it SAT800 and no one will be disappointed. (and the members won't
leave in droves, either).

Good DX'ing to you too, toots!

Just like here at "Google Rec.Radio.Shortwave" and likewise at

Message 'postings' (eMails) there and post there too.

Keep in mind, Mike's post was after a string of 35 off-topic posts by
others. He asked that the group try to stay on-topic.

JJ's reply, "If you don't like it...guess what...you can leave the

group.

DeWayne

Just my opinion.

I doubt if anyone thought you were any problem. I enjoyed reading your
comments about the SAT 800 and SWLing. The political rantings were annoying
so I just left the SAT 800 group. Politics is so utterly deceitful anyway.
The Republicans falsely claim to be so ultra moral and the Dems openly
advocate baby murder. What's left? Only the very naive trust any politician!
Clinton was god to the Dems, and Bush is god to the Republicans. What a
bunch of bunk! It's just too bad that the list owner would try to polute his
own group. I enjoyed the SAT 800 group for a while. I consider you as an
asset to the group AC.

DeWayne

So start another group on Yahoo! Groups yourself.

At the risk of becoming a little power mad despot, like JJ, I'll just stick to
dealing with RRS. BTW, I think you are owed congratulations on making more
posts in one day than anyone else ever has before.

RHF is one of the most pleasant, inoffensive personalities
I've encountered in RRS. Yahoo's Moderated Groups are a
(questionably) benign dictatorship, and if you don't like
the jumping and shouting, you can always form your own Yahoo
Satellit 800 group. If you really care about free speech,
work as a moderator, removing only SPAM. Just a suggestion.
(On the other hand, what's the big deal?)

No big deal. This topic died over a week ago. Why do you feel the need to bring
it back up? Just catching up on being annoying?
