![]() "starman" wrote in message ... Compared to some other portables I've used, the chuffing on the '2010' is really not an issue. I used to do a lot of bandscanning with the tuning knob on my '2010' and seldom found the chuffing to be annoying. However I have heard that some examples of the '2010' do chuff more than others. I'm not sure if this is related to the production date. Mine was made in 1991. I think I bought mine in 1992 so they're probably close enough to be considered the same batch. Perhaps older or newer ones have worse problems. At any rate, I mainly listen in USB so never have a problem with chuffing. On the other hand, a few years back I watched as a friend tuned on his DX-390, and he had to tune one step, stop, tune another step, stop, and so on. The muting was so bad that if you kept turning the dial trying to listen, you just wouldn't hear anything. -- Tom Sevart N2UHC Frontenac, KS http://www.geocities.com/n2uhc |
