To Comcast,
Mike Maghakian is not running a business. The shortwave hobby is comprised of many individuals who constantly collect radios. This newsgroup has long had posts from radio hobbyists where they are simply selling or trading old radios for the sheer thrill of being able to acquire one more new radio to try. I doubt that Mike is making much, if any profit, since he, like the typical hobbyist, seems to plow his resources back into radios. Additionally, this activity is critical to newbies in the hobby, since eBay has driven up the prices of used receivers, making it much more expensive to acquire used receivers. If you have received complaints, please realize that the group is often plagued by malcontents attempting to get each other kicked off their ISPs. A cursory glance at the newsgroup's history in google.com should make that apparent. Mike Maghakian is a crucial member of the newsgroup providing an important service to the hobby. |
