Sangean 818 without the cassette player (in other words, with the larger
speaker) would be much better for listening to music.

Is the reel antenna with 25 ft wire sufficient for this purpose .
I live in an apartment and cannot have anything other than this .


Yes it is. Even better if you can throw the wire outside :-) but yes.....the
reel antenna will be just fine.

It depends on whether you can install some or all of the reel antenna
wire outside. If all the antenna wire has to be inside, the reception
will depend on the construction materials in the building and the amount
of radio noise in the area. If the building has a lot of metal, such as
a steel frame or a metal roof, the reception will be significantly
weaker. It's always best to have the antenna outside where it can
capture the most signal and the least noise from devices in the
building. You might want to consider an active (amplified) whip or loop
antenna if you can't install any kind of antenna outside.
