I'm interested in a Satellit 800 but concerned about quality control
issues. Where does one buy a unit that has been refurbished and
checked carefully by R.L. Drake Co.

I've contacted RL Drake but they don't sell refurbished units and
suggested Grundig, but I don't think Grungig sells refurbished units
either. Any suggestions?? Thanks for the info...

I highly recommend getting a refurb that has been checked out over a new one
off ebay.

I believe you can request universal check it out before shipment !

Me too. I think I got a good deal on this. The only flaw I can
detect is a *tiny* difference in the USB and LSB from center frequency.
for $100 I can live with itF

Thanks for the info. I ordered one of the refurbished RL Drake units from
Universal Radio today. I'll be interested in how it compares to my Sony
