His loop does give some good gain on 75m, but little on the other
bands. The pattern of his loop should give an X shape pattern, "4
lobes" that give appx 5-6-7 dbi. Pretty good for 75m, but he will have
nulls also. If you achieve gain, it's ALWAYS at the expense of another
direction. For this reason, on 75m, I actually prefer a pretty
omnidirectional antenna. I like to spread the power fairly equally. My
favorite all around 75m antenna is a turnstile.
His large loop acts about the same as a dipole on 160m. Varies on all
the upper bands, but none of the upper bands show the type of gain he
gets on 75m. It's sort of a one band wonder....:/ A smaller loop can
actually work better on some of the higher bands. MK
