The 145th birth anniversary of radio inventor Alexander Popov is being
marked in the Urals town of Krasnoturjinsk, where the great man was born,
Itar-Tass reports on Tuesday from Yekaterinburg.

Popov??? Everyone knows radio was invented by Tesla!

I knew that post would cause argument, but at least it's radio
related.

Everyone knows Loomis invented the radio.

In a March 1999 interview with Wolf Blitzer, Al Gore said, "During my
service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the
Internet."

He didn't invent the radio.

Gore was instrumental in getting Internet connections for schools and
libraries. He never claimed to have 'invented' the Internet but his use
of the word 'created' was unfortunate.

STARMAN,

Lets Be Factual: Al Gore was 'instrumental in getting a
"INTERNET TAX" on our Telephone Bills to provide Internet
Servides and Equipment to Schools. However, most of the
Internet Services and Equipment are donated to the Schools
by Companies who write the Donations Off for a Tax Break.
The so called "GORE TAX" ends up in the federal general
fund and Buys Nothing for our Schools.

The INTERNET TAX {Gore Tax} on our Telephone Bills is simply
one more Rip-Off of the American Tax Payer [.]

Does anyone have the set of QSL cards from Voice of Russia commemorating
Popov and his invention? The old radios were amazing!
