I've met people (face to face) and dealt with people via mail and phone

of usenet. Yet (according to you) it's not real. Huh. I guess that's

Usenet isn't (necessarily) real-life in that anyone can post anything
anonymously and not have to worry about repercussions as they would if they
were to say it right to your face.
