Hello.

If you're willing to spend that much for an AN-LP1, why not consider
an AOR WL500 Active Window Loop? It's slightly clumsier than the Sony,
it's more expensive (new), the battery installation is less
convenient, but its build quality is far superior, it is just as easy
to carry on a trip once it is broken down, and, finally, it is a far
superior antenna.

The Sony is a good value (and a good antenna) at $80 - $90, but I
wouldn't spend any more. The AOR at $200 (new from Universal) is an
excellent antenna and works very well with table radios as well as
portables (the Sony, in my experience, does not work well with table
radios. It does work very well with the '7600 series radios and other
portables). The adapters necessary to connect the AOR to any radio are
cheap and readily available at Radio Shack, Universal, Grove, and
others. (In my experience, the Radio Shack 12 VDC 500 mA Filtered AC
Adapter Cat. 273-1773 along with Adapt-a-Plug "H" Plug 99 Cat.
273-1711 works extremely well with the AOR if you prefer to use AC
power.)

I own both antennas.

Lawrence
