Default About marine radio

Hello,
I've just started interesting Maritime monitoring after a long time
listening to broadcast and hams only, well as a beginner I would like to
know more on the band plan, interesting freq., what digimodes and service is
popular among boaters (sailmail, rtty, lsb, usb or so).
My QTH is east Europe so I expect peoples advice on European region, but
info on pacific and America monitoring is highly appreciated too (never know
the what propagation will be).
If you know any good internet reference please give a link.

Thanks in advice,
Edgar
