What date did you "quit" working? Gee Fat Boy, once again, didn't you spend $25 for that investigation? You could have bought more Cheeto's! |

Yet another nicely worded personal *opinion* but no one has yet
to say *why* Baxter should lose his license. Then you're not paying attention, or intentionally being obtuse. Glen Baxter does not deserve to continue operating the way he's BEEN operating for so long. It's taken the FCC this long to get him to clean up some of his act, and that delay was directly a result of Baxter's obfuscation and avoidance of his responsibilities (the phrase from Tony's response regarding the Bermuda 'emergency' silliness, says it best... 'terminological inexactitudes')... and he damn well knows it. The simple facts are that while he may have started using a better timer, moved frequencies a bit, and *seemingly* stopped overtly haranguing other legal amateur operators, he's still being cited for violations of FCC Amateur regulations, and these are violations he's been willfully flaunting for YEARS, not something new. If he's not decent, kind, or just plain smart enough, to follow accepted (and legally binding) regulations, then he doesn't earn the right to be an amateur. We've seen his casual disregard for the basic rights and priveledges afforded to all amateurs, and it's a long-standing disregard at that. One that causes harmful interference, degeneration and tension among the amateur community, and even (witness the Bermuda nonsense) the international goodwill of the world amateur community. When a noisome troublemaker starts getting tanked at a bar, and becomes unsavory and ill-tempered, and starts illogically, wildly threatening innocent, decent patrons who only asked that he quiet down or move to another table, you don't ask him to sit and wait for years on end. You toss him out on his sorry butt not only to rid yourself of him, but as an example to other would-be troublemakers to stay the hell out of good people's forums. When a bad driver keeps violating road rules, his license to drive is stripped, at least until he can whip himself into decent shape. You don't let him keep driving. Do yourself a favor, do a search on this guy and these issues, read everything you can, and if you STILL can't see why this guy is just plain illegal and damaging for amateur radio, then I'll leave you to your OWN opinion. He's not the only one, to be sure, and the FCC and Riley Hollingsworth seem to be taking a longer time than many had hoped to clean up a lot of the other messes on the bands that have festered for decades, but Baxter's one of the loudest and most well-known. He does not deserve our sympathy, our support or our understanding. In being disrespectful to so many people and offices, he has lost all respect, and lost the right to that respect which others who EARN their respect by being decent, ethical and LEGAL, have come to cherish and enjoy. There's no room for weeds in the garden. Linus |
