I stopped using CB some time ago. but still had my 1/2 wave dipole left
up in the air.
So not wanting to trash it i hooked it up to my DX300 realistic.
works great, anybody else use old CB antennas??

No but I've got an old Ringo out in the garage that I've thought about
hooking up for that purpose. Guess if it didn't work out I could always
agitate some truckers running up and down Interstate 44 that's about a half
mile away. RM~

Modern receivers are so sensitive that you could use a wet noodle
and
still receive. If you can manage it, adding an 8 foot whip to each end
of the cb dipole (providing it's not folded) would get the antenna
resonant around
15 mhz and really get the antenna perking. Radio Shack used to sell a
helical cb antenna about 4 feet long that would do the job and not be
a mechanical problem.
I have a similar setup over the garage (low) and it works fine for 19
and
21 meters. Or you could just attach 8-foot wires to the ends of the
dipole
and see what happens. To work well, the antenna must be installed on a
windy
night during a rainstorm.

insensitive.

Of course, not all owners of it complain about it, some like it.

I've used an older 7ft. skipshooter, then gave it to someone for a mobile cb
antenna, like I had originally used it for.

This one isn't old but I have an Antron about 50-55ft. in the air, during that
time I used it for my Uniden 9000XLT (because I never used my Washington Base.)

But just a couple weeks ago, I hooked up the Cobra 29LTD Classic to a power
supply and plugged into the Antron, so now I can key up again.

It'd been a while, I'd like to get somme sb capability back though, that's what
I miss is talking on sideband.

It's kinda made me think of studying for my ticket, I LOVE to listen more than
anything. But it's nice to talk to someone when you want to.
